Braeberry Emma Mae

Ravenscairn Selkie's third foal for us came 31 May 2008 in the wee hours of the morning. It's a black filly. The two photos at left were taken by a friend who was living at our Boring farm and watching over the ponies.

Emma had a great first week, but a rough few weeks after that. She developed septic arthritis and at one point was given a 10% chance to live. We moved her to Oregon State University where they cleared out the infection with specialty equipment and with stall rest and medicine she recovered. Only time will tell if it is a full and complete recovery.

The photo at right is her in Boring after two weeks of hospital time. Most of the shaved areas are visible where different tests were done. She has been at our coast farm, then spent most of the year in Medford with the whole herd on large acreage an dnow is back at the coast. She visibly has healed well and has no problem moving around. Growth to mature size will determine the completeness of her healing. She is not for sale until then.
