Braeberry Emma Mae

Ravenscairn Selkie's third foal for us came 31 May 2008 in the wee hours of the morning. It's a black filly. The two photos at left were taken by a friend who is living at our Boring farm and watching over the ponies.

Emma had a great first week, but it's been rough since. She developed septic arthritis and at one point was given about a 10% chance to live a productive life, based on the data and previous experiences the vet had. Since then, she's been at Oregon State University and on lots of stall rest, but seems to be recovering. Only time will tell if it is a full and complete recovery. We initially offered her for sale, but will now plan to keep her to maturity to confirm her health in her joints.

The photo at right is her in Boring from two weeks of hospital time. Most of the shaved areas are visible where different tests were done. She is with us in Seal Rock, still doing stall rest.
